Too Many Opinions

Have you felt as I have felt lately, that there are too many opinions about almost everything? As I study the Scriptures, I don’t see that our opinions are required or even encouraged. I can tell you that the Lord has told me more than once in my life that He has no interest in my weighing in on issues.

Fear of the Lord: One of His Greatest Blessings

Ravi Zacharias was once asked what his first words to the Lord would be when he entered Heaven. Ravi said that he was not nearly as interested in what he was going to say as he was in what the Lord would have to say to him. He also said he was terrified of what God would say. This submitted servant of the Lord knew a type of holy fear that is a form of humility.

Kingdom Purposes in These Times

We are not fundamentally free; external circumstances are not in our hands, they are in God’s hands, the one thing in which we are free is in our personal relationship to God. We are not responsible for the circumstances we are in, but we are responsible for the way we allow those circumstances to affect us; we can either allow them to get on top of us, or we can allow them to transform us into what God wants us to be.

Devotional 53: Go Tell It on the Mountain

I love watching the Detroit Youth Choir singing their hearts out on television programs such as the Today Show or America’s Got Talent. These young people from the worst neighborhoods of Detroit set out to tell a different story of their beloved city than most people hear. Despite the poverty these young people live in, they tell a story about the wonderful people in their community and the joy they have in their circumstances. That joy is infectious. You want to listen to them. You want to join in.

DEVOTIONAL 49: THE MANGER OF MY HEART

Dear friends, I am sharing with you a Christmas carol I wrote many years ago when my heart was cold to anything that resembled the Christmas spirit. I was a busy single mom, and I just had nothing but a bare heart to offer Him, so I came to Him in the honesty of the words below.
