Prayer for a Young Adult

I pray this poem for the child God gave me many years ago and for the spiritual children He has given me since that wonderful day.

Oh, that he would know how wide and deep and high the love of the Christ is for him, At all times, in every circumstance, and in every condition of his heart; That the love of Jesus would root him, ground him, and establish him;

That the Father will reach into His glorious riches and pour out the blessings appointed for him to receive before he was ever born, and that he would accept them. Lord, help him not to miss the unfathomable blessing of your constancy and a love that surpasses knowledge.

Help him to know the perfect love that casts out fear- fear of man, fear of the future, and unspoken fears that visit unbidden. Free him of all that so he can walk out into the light of your love, a love that is living and evident in his life— not hidden but proclaimed.

Fill him to the measure of all the fullness of God so that he can bring new glory to a glorious God the world barely knows. Thank you, God, for every gift you appointed him with at birth and for every place you will take him on the path you have set in front of him. Praise you, God for your perfect integrity so I can entrust his future and his well-being to you now and forever. Amen

14 For this reason I kneel before the Father, 15 from whom every family[a] in heaven and on earth derives its name. 16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
